Here's some tips from members of Salt Spring Island Fire/Rescue


Fire Chief Enfield - Display your civic address so emergency responders can locate you. Ensure your home is protected from wildland interface fires.

Assistant Chief George - Next time you're building a home consider Home Fire Sprinklers. They may save your home, and the LIVES of your family!

Captain Holmes - Please Drive Safely and ALWAYS wear your seat belt!

Captain Lundy - Water your Christmas tree regularly.

Captain Irwin - Check your batteries in your smoke alarm. When there is fire get out and stay out!

Lieutenant Spencer - To install smoke alarms and change your batteries every six months.

Firefighter Ogis - Check the charge on your home fire Extinguisher. If over 12 yrs the extinguisher is time for replacement or service.

Firefighter Foster - In a smoke filled room stay low and exit as safely as possible.

Firefighter Dick - Find a quick exit and Stay Low!

Firefighter Bartle - Get out and Stay Out!!

Firefighter Ponsford - Don’t play with fire
